Col. Dr. Eric Valade is currently head of the department of transmissible agents as well as head of the unit of bacteriology at the Armed Forces Biomedical Research Institute. His areas of expertise covers Bacteriology (including high pathogenic bacteria, multi drug resistance and virulence), Biosafety and biosecurity, Virology, as well as Medical countermeasures. Dr. Valade also heads the French National Reference Centres for anthrax, melioidosis and glanders. In addition, he serves as advisor to the Surgeon General of the French Military Health Service in the area of biomedical defence against biological risk. Dr. Valade is also deputy head of the first mixed unit research of the ministry of defense as well as referent of biosecurity for the French Ebola crisis response.
