Dr. Björn Sandström is a deputy research director at the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) where he has gained extensive experience of working with CBRN issues, primarily in the field of radiation safety and security. His research activities mainly concern radiological and nuclear threat and risk assessments, particularly linked to cases of illicit trafficking of RN materials. As an expert in that field he has been consulted by the IAEA Division of Nuclear Security. He has also had the chance to discuss illicit trafficking trends at meetings arranged by Europol and Interpol. In the last decade he has become more and more involved in nuclear forensic research at the national and European level as well as in bilateral projects with other Nations.
