Dr. Niklas Brännström is the acting scientific lead for the dispersion modelling group at the Department for CBRN Defence and Security in Swedish Defence Research Agency, FOI. Dispersion modelling is an interdisciplinary field at the intersection of Meteorology, Physics, Geology and Mathematics. In the five years he has been with FOI, he has been involved in a variety of dispersion modelling research projects, but the more mathematically oriented topic of inverse dispersion modelling is closest to his heart.
Dr. Brännström obtained his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Warwick, UK, with a thesis on chaotic Hamiltonian dynamical systems. Prior to joining FOI, he held several Post-Doc positions (Univ. of Warwick, Univ. of Helsinki, the Mittag-Leffler Institute) and was also involved in software development for Siemens.
