Ms. Karola Hagner works at the Bundeswehr Research Institute for Protective Technologies – NBC-Protection (WIS) in Munster, Germany since 1995. WIS is a research institution of the German Department of Defense, its work focusses on the protection against Weapons of Mass Destruction and their impacting components and furthermore, fire protection engineering, protection against strong electromagnetic fields and water purification. She is a senior executive in the department of Individual and Collective Protection and responsible for individual protective equipment (IPE). She is a telecommunications engineer and has an additional bachelor degree in military administration. She has worked in several stages of different IPE projects including project management, procurement and research. Her main research projects deal with future IPE solutions, especially with the optimization of the protective features and the reduction of the physiological strain for the wearer.
