Alick McWhirter is a Specialist Superintendent (Bomb Disposal) in the Hong Kong Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Bureau. He is currently second- in-command and manages the CBRN Division, with responsibility for procedures, training and equipment. Prior to this he managed the Conventional Munitions and Improvised Explosive Device Divisions. He is secretary to the Hong Kong Government’s Standing Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Planning Group (SRPG). He has a Business degree from the University of Edinburgh and a Masters degree in Terrorism Studies from the University of St. Andrews, and has specialised in terrorism in South East Asia. Alick joined the Hong Kong Police in 1989 and the EOD Bureau in 1996. He has extensive operational experience from a wide variety of cases, and has been accepted as an expert witness in the Hong Kong Courts.
